There is no space because of Formula One

Worried families have been holed up in a hotel since Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370, carrying 239 people, went missing on March 8 about an hour after take-off from Kuala Lumpur en route for Beijing.

Some Chinese family members who flew to the Southeast Asian nation to be closer to the heart of search operations had been staying at the Cyberview Resort & Spa near Kuala Lumpur.

But they have now had to find alternative accommodation after F1 crews started to arrive.

A spokeswoman for the hotel said: "The Chinese families were here, but they have already left. We are fully booked. There is no space because of Formula One."

Malaysian officials said the families would be put up at another hotel.

The Grand Prix is one of the biggest sporting events in Malaysia, when room rates at some hotels soar as drivers, their teams and sponsors travel to Kuala Lumpur for the weekend race.

Several foreign officials, investigators and journalists are also being forced by the event to move out of a hotel near the Kuala Lumpur international airport, which had become the headquarters for coordinating search operations.

Minister Hishammuddin Hussein said : "We will be moving out of here because the F1 race is going to go on."

Technicians are arriving well in advance of the March 30 race, which takes place about 10 minutes from the airport.

An international team searching the southern Indian Ocean has not turned up anything, and Australia's deputy prime minister said suspected debris spotted on satellite pictures may have sunk.

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia: Exploring Tune Hotels | We Said Go Travel ...

tune KL night

Traveling in Asia has been our life for the last eighteen months. George and I love to fly on Air Asia, they have great fares and fly everywhere we want to go. They are to Asia what Southwest Airlines is to the United States; a reliable low cost carrier with many flights. During a recent flight, we learned about Tune Hotels, which is the hotel chain related to Air Asia. Air Asia is also involved in Tune Talk (phone calls), Tune insurance and Tony Fernandez has plans for a Tune Hospital as well as sponsoring a car in the Motor Car Races!

When we returned to Asia after visiting family in America, we decided to investigate Tune Hotels in Downtown Kuala Lumpur. The hotel is a few blocks from the rail transport system. We took the KLIA rapid train from the airport into KLCC and then went a few stops on the rail line. When we left KL, we went three stops on the rail line to the bus station. It is simple to find the hotel no matter what public transport option you choose. KL night train

Even if you arrive with jetlag, it is simple to go across the street to the Selamat Datang Market in the basement of the Maju Junction Mall where there is Starbucks if you are craving coffee after your flight to Malaysia. There is also a 7-11 right inside the hotel for any other basic needs. We went around the corner for fantastic food. We recommend the restaurant Cirber for traditional fish ball noodle soup and try the local cold tea. Nasi Kandar is a local favorite restaurant where we enjoyed fresh hot roti telur (egg), Tofu, rice and water for under $2usd. Lunch in a capital city for two American dollars directly across from our hotel was a great find!G KL towers

Tune Hotels is famous for their 5 star beds, power shower and a la carte service. I agree with them that travelers want to find a room with a comfortable bed and a hot strong shower. I can tell you that you will not be disappointed. Our bed was lovely and the shower was both hot and powerful. I have often complained about a hotel when the bed is too hard or the shower is only a few drops of water and will not get the shampoo out of my hair.

Tune Hotels truly deliver on their promises. The system at Tune Hotels is similar to the pricing on Air Asia flights. Every room comes with the basics and then you can add packages for extras. The room does have a ceiling fan but if you prefer air conditioning you need to choose a package or buy it as an ala carte. Comfort Package: 24 hour air conditioning and Towels 22MR Cozy Package: 24hr air conditioning, 24hr TV, 24hr WiFi and Towel and Toiletries: 36MR Other extras (pricing as of Feb 1, 2014 for a stay in KL, Malaysia: Breakfast 10MR, WiFi (12MR per device for 24 hours), late checkout (2pm) 12MR, Entertainment Package: 24 hour period (32 inch LCD TV with 12 channels) 10.60MR, Early Check-in from 11am 15MR, Towels and Toiletries 6MR, Air conditioning 22MR for 24 hrs, 16MR for 12hrs.

The hotel was very clean and felt very secure. You can only have one room key per room which could be an issue if you wanted to go somewhere without your partner or roommate but is important to their eco-commitment and the system of keeping the lights off if you are out of the room. It is also essential for the security system. You cannot enter the lobby after midnight without a room key. We enjoyed our first stay at Tune Hotels and look forward to more clean, convenient and fantastic nights with the Tune Hotel Group! More hotels are opening all over the world.

We cannot wait to stay with Tune Hotels in Bali and Makasar, Indonesia.

The only question to ask is-- which hotel will you stay at first?

Frustration growing for families of passengers on Malaysia Airlines ...

Posted: 19 Mar 2014 09:52 AM PDT

malaysia familyKUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (CNN) — A woman wailed as security guards dragged her out of the briefing room used to provide updates on missing Malaysia Airlines Flight 370.

She is the mother of one of the passengers, and her protest is but one sign that patience is fraying among the relatives of the missing.

The families of the passengers have been mostly out of the spotlight as Malaysian authorities spearhead a mission to find the plane. But as day 12 rolled around with no answers, the frustration became evident.

Not knowing the fate of their loved ones weighs heavily on the family members, who are desperate for answers.

Three women, relatives of the passengers, staged a protest at the Kuala Lumpur hotel where the world's press is staying. Their efforts were cut short by security guards who removed them through a crush of reporters, dragging one as she screamed.

"I don't care what your government does," one woman shouted, referring to the Malaysians. "I just want my son back."

The flashes from dozens of cameras lit up her face as she spoke.

The woman identified herself as the mother of Li Le, a 36-year-old Chinese national aboard the missing plane.

"My son," she said, weeping. "I just want my son back."

Another woman, wearing a blue shirt, white baseball cap, sunglasses and a face mask, raised her right arm as she demanded more information from the Malaysian government.

"We need media from the entire world (to) help us find our lost families and find the MH370 plane," the woman said. "We have no information at all. … They only say 'keep searching' — from South China Sea to Malacca Strait to Andaman Sea."

She and the other families waiting in Kuala Lumpur said they aren't satisfied with "the Malaysian government's inaction."

"What we need is to know the truth, to know where the plane is," she shouted. "We have had enough. Malaysian government are liars."

Guards then escorted the women out, apparently against their will.

The screams of Li Le's mother were piercing as she was dragged through a sea of reporters.

The other two women were led out by guards. All three were taken to a room in the hotel, and Malaysian authorities blocked the door.

Relatives wait in Beijing

The agony of the wait was felt not just in Kuala Lumpur. Families in Beijing — the scheduled destination for Flight 370 — also gather daily for a briefing with officials.

Ye Lun, whose brother-in-law is on the missing plane, says every day is the same. He and his group leave the hotel in the morning for a daily briefing, and that's it. They go back to the hotel to watch the news on television.

The deepening mystery has taken its toll on the families.

The emotions of Ye's sister — wife of one of the passengers — have become very unstable, he said.

"Every morning, she feels that she's got hope when she comes to the briefing. Then they simply say those blurry things again," Ye said. "Then she loses hope again."

He continued: "It's like this every single day. She always hopes that a miracle will happen, but it doesn't. I don't know when this miracle will happen. How many days have we got left, I don't know."

Ye's brother-in-law is a veteran of the Malaysia Airlines' Kuala Lumpur-Beijing route, a silver-level frequent flier.

The airline's handling of the situation is so unpopular that the families in Beijing are talking about potential lawsuits. Ye asked for an envoy from the airline to confer with the families to explain the details of the situation.

"The longer the wait, the bigger the mental shadow we have," he said.

Air France flight unity

In a show of solidarity, some families of the victims of Air France Flight 447, which also went missing before its wreckage was found, wrote an open letter to the families of Flight 370 passengers.

The letter expressed dismay about the vague and sometimes contradictory statements from the Malaysian government, and it suggested that families turn to their home governments to pressure the Malaysians for details.

The letter was written by a group of relatives of Flight 447 victims who lived in Germany.

The president of the group, Dr. Bernd Gans, said it is necessary for the families of Flight 370 to stick together and to pressure officials "to make sure they are getting answers."

Gans lost a daughter in the Air France tragedy, and he said coping with the incident becomes easier over time.

"Yes, in the first moment you are completely paralyzed, but life goes on, it's necessary," he said.

Sarah Bajc, the partner of American Philip Wood, said she is still holding on to hope.

Her initial thought was that the plane had been commandeered or hijacked. As time has elapsed, that theory has gained followers.

"All my friends were starting to think that perhaps I was just in denial, and I was even starting to doubt myself a little bit," Bajc told CNN's Anderson Cooper. "So when all of this new evidence started to come out, it gave me confidence that I wasn't so crazy after all."

She is no aviation expert, but she has intuition, and it tells her that the passengers, including Wood, are still alive.

Whoever is holding the passengers hostage in this scenario can achieve their goal without hurting anyone, she said. There is no evidence that this is the case, but it is her message to any possible captors.

"Miracles do happen," she said. "They happen every day."
